This celebration is a tribute to the Filipino American community that helped shape the Delano that many of us know, love, and grew up with. In a beautiful showcase of culture, community, and creativity, we will be showcasing a variety of Philippine folk dance performances and FANHS Delano’s very first documentary.

Dances include Laga, Binoyugan, Gaway-Gaway, Kinakulangan, Jotabal, and Tinikling.

Documentary: “Rooted in Resilience: Stories of Migration, Discrimination, and Unity from Delano’s Filipino Elders.” 

Through the stories of four highly respected individuals within the Delano Filipino American community, this documentary aims to explore the complex experiences of Filipino Americans in Delano, California throughout the second half of the 1900s. We travel through time to showcase the strength, hardships, and resilience of those before us that ultimately grew into the Filipino American communities that our local Delano knows and loves today. What would Filipino Americans be without those who came before us? Who did they become, and how do we carry their stories forward?
